The Carpenter Family

Justin and I moved to Nevada in August 2005. We love it here. However we miss our family and friends back home. Our church here is great! We have been married for 7 years. We have one Daughter, Isabella who was born Oct 19 2006 and a son Caleb due in Feb of 2009! This blog is for our Family and Friends to catch up on how we are doing. What a great invention!

    Baby, Baby

Well the word is out. We are havin a baby! We are very excited! I had my 1st doctor appt today(monday) and all went well. I have gained a whopping 4lbs! I don't mind though, since I had lost 10 before I got pregnant! So I still could gain 6lbs this 1st trimester and be completely happy! Well, maybe not. I have some prego clothes since my jeans have gotten a little tight in my mid section and hips. I swear when I am done being pregnant I am going to walk around with my button undone and my zipper down since prego pants don't have them! I am one day shy of 10 weeks and the baby is due on October 24th. My 1st ultrasound is on April 11th when I will be 12 weeks! Justin's mom is coming for it and we are so excited. Justin and I think we are having a girl but Justin's mom thinks a boy. We will see soon! We have a girl name picked out and have for quite sometime now but no boy names. I have been "getting sick" for about 2 weeks now but only in the evening and I don't usually feel nauseus though. Weird. I can no longer cook any food cuase if I cook it I can't eat it. So our food budget has grown so we can eat out almost everyday! It's a good thing we have Monday night friends where we can get a good home cooked meal! We are very excited for our new little one coming soon. Mary and I are about 3 weeks a part. We have two other friends that are due as well. Laura is due on Aug 25, Mary is due on Sept 30, Rebecca is due at the beginning of Oct, and I am due Oct 24th. Busy busy! It will be fun to have all the babies around again. We will have to set up a play group! I am coming for a visit in July probably the beginning. Once I get a pic of a belly and the ultrasound I will post it.

    The Gathering

I want to take this opportunity and talk about our Young Adults ministry at Summit. For those of you who don't know Karon and I moved to Nevada to help Kurt and Mary with their ministry. We felt like God was calling us to Nevada to be a support for Kurt and Mary, but we had no idea on what else he had in store for us. After moving we quickly found a couple of ministry opportunities. I still help with the Sound, but only once a month. The chuch has an awesome sound tech and he has put together a top notch group of people. Well, Summit had a Young Adults ministry but had stopped back in the summer of last year. I was really feeling a pulling towards getting involved with it. To make a long story short, we kicked off The Gathering back in January and have been going strong since then. I am finding that God has shown himself faithful and is using Karon and I to reach this age group. Currently we have 50-70 people that show up on any given Sunday night. However that is fine but really I get more excited about seeing Young People worship God and really want to know who he is and have an intimate relationship with it. We start our first small group this week and I am really excited to be apart of this ministry. God has really shown himself faithful and I am so happy that he has chosen Karon and I to be apart of the movement. If you are interested in seeing more of The Gathering we have a pretty cool website. Its still under construction but you can get a taste of what we are all about. The website is www.thegatheringnv.org. Under the section titled PodCast you can listen to some of the lessons we have done. Kurt did an awesome teaching on Praise and Worship and I have done a couple lessons as well.
