The Carpenter Family

Justin and I moved to Nevada in August 2005. We love it here. However we miss our family and friends back home. Our church here is great! We have been married for 7 years. We have one Daughter, Isabella who was born Oct 19 2006 and a son Caleb due in Feb of 2009! This blog is for our Family and Friends to catch up on how we are doing. What a great invention!

    Bella is here!

Bella is finally here! She arrived on October 19th at 7:50am. She is so pretty! We are completly in love with her. Justin is such a help! He actually doesn't mind changing diapers and clothes and rocking her to sleep or burping her in the middle of the night! He is an awesome husband and dad! Grandma is here and is helping as well. She stayed up with her from midnight to 3 am the other morning when she just wanted to be held and not sleep! We are doing well although we are a little sleep deprived! Bella is growing great too! She was born at 6lbs 10oz and was 19 and 1/4 inches long and her head was 12 inches. When we left the hospital she weighed 6lbs 7 oz which is normal. We had her 1st doctors appt on Monday and she is 19 and 1/2 inches, 6lbs 9oz, and her head is now 13 and 1/4 inches! She loves to eat! She still has blue eyes and they will probably stay that way since almost everyone on both sides has blue eyes! She has blonde hair right now with a little brown in it. She smiles and grins all the time! I think she loves her life here already! She is such a blessing to us and is so perfect! Labor was since 3:30am on the 18th. They were definatly tolerable but painful about every 5 mins. They stopped for a couple of hours around one but picked up again around 4 that evening. Then around 9 pm they started to get really painful and across my back. By 10pm they were 2 mins apart and lasting about 1 min! Back labor is soooooo painful! All you who have had will know what I mean! We headed to the hospital about 10:45 that night and were hooked up at the hospital about 11:15. I was still only a 3! I couldn't believe it! But they let me stay since my contractions were consistant and 2 min apart. I walked from Emergency to the labor and delivery floor(taking elevators of course) and then they brought me a wheelchari. I just didnt' want one before! Stubborn me! It made me cry when I saw they had one for me! Stupid hormones! Then at about 2:30 that morning the 2 min contractions were just way too painful and were starting to only back off not go away in between each of them. So I was shaking uncontrollably. I tried to hold out but after 9 hours of those contractions I was ready for an Epidural! We trained for natural and we tried but sometimes the pain can win in the end! I was able to calm down and relax and get a little bit of sleep. Once I got the epidural they said I was at a 5! Talk about slow labor! I know others have had longer but good lord! Justin's hand was so sore from me squeezing it for 9 hours! Everytime I would have a contraction though he would offer me his hand and help me try to concentrate on breathing. Then at 6:00 that morning they came in and said that we were good to go! Seeing her little head come into this world and was amazing! All the pain and long waiting was so worth it! I am not ready to have another of course yet :) but it was just the best experience ever!

    Isabella Sophia Carpenter

Well, the day finally arrived. Isabella Sophia Carpenter arrived on October 19th at 7:50 am. Both mom and baby are doing quite well. I will let Karon blog on the details of the labor but I will say she did very well for a very tough labor. We are blessed to have my mom in town to give us a hand with Bella and gives us some free time to sleep!!! Here is a picture of our little munchkin.

    NO baby yet!

Although I have a week and 3 days until she is born, it's really starting to feel like it might never happen! Things have changed and I have progressed but it's just slow, at least for me. Grandma wants her to wait to come and see the world until she gets here on Thursday but I must say as much as I want her here for the birth I am really wanting it to happen like now! Right now spontaneiously just go into labor! I know all you ladies who have been pregnant know what I am talking about. I hate to have it be my focus right now but it totally is! GET OUT OF ME NOW! enters my mind on occasion :) ok maybe every min of every day! Kidding but it's pretty close! I know she will come it's just the waiting that is so hard, especially since 3 of my other friends already have their babies! Alright enough complaining. Everything is healthy and good and that's all that matters! I have my last doctor's appt on Tuesday the 17th so hopefully I either won't make it or that appoitment will help put me in labor that day or the next!
