The Carpenter Family
Justin and I moved to Nevada in August 2005. We love it here. However we miss our family and friends back home. Our church here is great! We have been married for 7 years. We have one Daughter, Isabella who was born Oct 19 2006 and a son Caleb due in Feb of 2009! This blog is for our Family and Friends to catch up on how we are doing. What a great invention!

Hustle and Bustle
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
I rarely get the opportunity to post on this site but thought I would post something. As I go through the holiday season, I have to remember what the true meaning of this holiday season is about. Its so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the shopping, over eating, making plans for friends and family, more shopping, and did I mention over eating? I know for me personally I have a hard time restraining myself when it comes to the gift giving. I want to bless others just as I have been blessed and yet its really not about the gifts. As a college age pastor I am constantly reminding the college age that its not about what you get or give this holiday season but rather showing the love of Christ in everything we do.
When you are standing in line at Macy's purchasing that perfect gift and it seems to be taking forever for that person behind the counter to ring up one simple item, and you are getting frustrated, take that as your opportunity to show Christ's love by being patient with them. Or when you are in the airport and the screeners are basically giving you a full cavity exam, shows Christ's love by not punching them in the face. Show Christ's love in giving of your time to a person who just needs to talk about how they are having a tough time right now.
I believe the saying is "Tis the season" and this year I hope that we all can say "Tis the season of loving others just as Christ loves us"

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was so much fun! We were so happy to come home! Justin's dad was so excited to see Bella! It was a surprise! Thanksgiving and any holiday really is such a tradition to have everyone from the family around. We all go to Grandma Devore's house(steve's mom) and she makes breakfast and starts on the big Thanksgiving meal. There is aunt's, uncles, cousins, close friends, nieces, nephews, grandparents, great grandparents, mom's and dad's, and all the grandkids and their kids! It's huge! Probably a good 50 people! Every year we build Gingerbread Houses guys vs girls and they are judged at Christmas. Whoever loses has to do the dishes! I believe the guys have done the dishes more. They say it's rigged but we don't care! :) It's so much fun! Christmas is just as fun as well. We do a White Elephant gift exchange. Someone even got fake boobs one year! Chloe was so excited to see her cousin. She kept telling everyone even me that Bella was her Cousin! It was really cute. She can't wait for her baby brother to come!
